Gower Lavender is run by Rae and Phil Poucher, with a little help from daughters Gwenni and Mabli, and a lot of hindrance from Hazel the cockapoo.

Our business grew – quite literally – from a single lavender plant in our garden.

When Rae realised she needed a change of career, she went for a think in the garden. ‘What do I love?’ she asked herself. Her eye fell on the lavender plant growing by the wall, alive with bees and butterflies. And you’ve guessed the rest.

That one plant has now become eight different varieties of purple, white and pink lavender, grown on a field in Lunnon, and a consultancy partnership with the National Trust on The Vile in Rhossili. Every summer we harvest the lavender, dry it, and hand make into luxury soaps, hand creams and lavender sachets.

Our dream is that, one day, we can welcome you to a beautiful lavender farm on Gower. Until then, you can buy a little slice of handmade lavender heaven from our website or selected local stockists.

Our Business

Whether you’re looking to reduce your plastic usage with a quality bar of soap, searching for a gorgeous locally-made gift, need welcome gifts for holiday guests, or want a unique wedding, party or event favour, Gower Lavender has something for you.

We offer a range of locally-made, ethical products:

• Lavender soaps
  Our soaps are made with natural oils and butters, essential oils and ethical mica (and absolutely NO palm oil), combined with sumptuous local ingredients such as laver seaweed and Mumbles Brewery beer
• Lavender and neroli hand cream
  Organic oils and butters are combined with essential oils to make our seriously addictive hand cream
• Dried lavender sachets
  Welsh blankets made from reclaimed wool are used to make our signature lavender-scented hearts, great for scenting pillows, drawers, wardrobes, rooms and cars. We have vegan alternatives made from reclaimed fabrics.
• Gift sets
  Our range of gift sets combine our soaps and creams with wooden soap dishes, cotton face cloths, sisal scrubs and natural bath scrunchies
• Holiday-Size soap
  Our soap, but smaller. Perfect for your holiday cottage guests, favours, or for taking on your travels.

The environment is at the heart of what we do. Our lavender is hand weeded, grown without pesticides and herbicides, and watered with our plentiful Welsh rain. We harvest late in the season after the plants have flowered to give pollinators the opportunity to feed before we cut.

Our cosmetics are vegan, ethical and animal friendly, and are made without palm oil. And our packaging is sustainable – either compostable or easily recyclable – but also beautiful, with pretty designs featuring a Three Cliffs cut-out by Gower illustrator Hannah Davies.
